Blender Phase: Modeling and Rigging
Decided to model a simple cartoon character, a blue cup with noodle arms, and a simple phase. Then I proceeded to use Blender to model, texture, and rig the character to work in the Video games VRCHAT and GARRYS MOD.
VRCHAT Phase: Additional Rigging and Game Modding
After making the model, I had to specifically rig the model to work with the specific bone structures VRCHAT models use in the game. As you play the game mostly with a VR headset, I needed hands to be interactable as you will be using them with the VR controls as well. This whole phase was done in the UNITY game engine.
GMOD Phase: New rigging and Coding
Garry's Mod was a bit more time-consuming than VRChat as the developer tools I was working with were as old as the game. I had to rig the model differently as the bone structure for both games is different, as well as coding the camera and additional sound effects to work in the game. Overall, I accomplished my goal by bringing in a fully playable model that has sound effects and is shown as its entity in Garry's Mod.
