Project Description:
PegDeck is a mobile game that combines aspects of card and pachinko-style games. The player starts in the pachinko mode where they aim a cannon to fire a ball into a field of pegs that (when hit) adds stats to the player. After the player has 0 balls remaining they enter the card phase where they’re presented with cards randomly drawn from their draw pile to face an enemy. Stats on the cards are determined by the pegs you hit in the beginning phase. Different pegs affect different cards, for example hitting red attack pegs will increase the strength of your attack cards and blue defense pegs will increase how much block you receive from block cards.
Pachinko Phase:
In this beginning phase, the player uses the cannon to shoot a ball to hit pegs. Each peg increases a specific stat (red for attack, blue for defense, etc.). The player can tap and drag to aim the cannon and then press the launch button to shoot. Each time you enter this phase, there will be a random pachinko board with either more of one type of peg or the other. This allows for some RNG as well as a strategy for the incoming battle.
Card Phase:
In this phase, the player uses the card system to battle against the enemy boss with 100 health. There will be the draw pile, discard pile, and the cards in the player's hand. The normal flow of the card phase would be to use the drawn cards at hand and select which cards to use whether to attack or to guard yourself. As long as you have enough energy, you can select any card, whether it will harm the opponent or add more balls to the player's next pachinko phase. Once the player has run out of ideas to do for this turn, they end the turn to repeat the game loop.
Contributions:
I worked with another teammate on the game art, as well as personally working on the peg board design layouts, UI art and designs, sound effects for every single detail shown in-game, the whole main menu, and the title design. I contributed as well to the beginning planning phase with how the game flow will go and what needs to be added and excluded.
